Behind the Lens

Howdy! I’m Carrie Labhart.

I am based out of Celina, TX where I spend my time raising a daughter, Wilder Rose, with my husband, Travis! I am a former middle school teacher and coach, have volunteered with Young Life for 15+ years, and have coached youth action sports camps, so working with children and families is a passion of mine! When I'm not taking photos professionally, there’s a good chance I’m finding adventure with my family and friends, and finding so much joy in documenting along the way.

How I Got Started

I took a film photography course in high school, and quickly found myself drawn to photographic artwork. I quickly became involved in photography club, entering some of my work into the local county fair. However, I didn’t own my own  film camera, and put it down when I went to college. Sometime in college I purchased an entry-level SLR camera and used it sparingly as a hobby. I began to drift away from the camera as iphones and gopros seemed more convenient and accessible in moments I wished to capture. I would be the annoying one at family gatherings that would crouch and get eye-level with the kids to take a candid photo for Easter instead of everyone with their arms around each other in the same spot every year. Likewise while traveling, I found myself attempting to capture the glory of the scenery and the freeze the memories in time on my iphone and gopro from every angle possible. They never really quite captured the way I would have liked- not even in portrait mode ;)  Now, as a mother, I’m hopeful that I can absorb every emotion from a moment through a quality photograph. I want to pass the same on to you and yours.
